More about Josh Cassaday
Josh Cassaday grew up playing basketball. In fact, we attended South Dakota State University and eventually finished his career at Fort Lewis College (part of the RMAC). After college, he was looking for something to compete in to fill his competitive void. Standing 6-6, 255…what better place than on the tee box with a driver in his hand. Not knowing what it would lead to, Josh started hitting drives longer and longer and eventually found himself at a World Long Drive Tour event and the rest is history.
HIS PRACTICE ROUTINE
Many people think that World Long Drive Hitters just show and go and their size and strength will best the next person. That is not the case at all. Long Drive Hitters are athletes and they practice their craft just like anyone else. When we stepped on the range with him, we found out first hand that is not just grip-it-and-rip-it. There is a science to the numbers…. the numbers are just incredible.
STep by Step
STEP ONE – Stretch out the lower body and the back muscles with a specfic, dynamic warmup to get the body ready for those aggresive movements.
STEP TWO – Work from the wedges up – He actually starts with a 58 or 60, just making sure he is hitting the center of the club face and getting good angles. He works through his irons, increasing his swing speed and monitoring his lauch angle and ball spin rate.
STEP THREE – Get the playing driver out – This is where he is very close to a 100% swing, if not 100%, working very hard on lauch angle and ball spin rate.
STEP FOUR – LET THE BIG DAWG EAT.
