TECTECTEC Rangefinder

TECTECTEC Rangefinder Review

It seems one of the most sought after accessories in golf is the rangefinder. Used by caddies on tour and golfers of all skill levels across the world, rangefinders offer accurate measurements to the pin and boost confidence when standing over the ball.

Here at GolfLife, we were given the opportunity to test a brand that was new to us, TecTecTec. They sent over their VPRO 500, which is a non-slope model. The VPRO 500 is the perfect answer for anyone looking to buy their next rangefinder. Here are some of the features included with the product.

TECTECTEC Rangefinder

The rangefinder has PinSensor Technology to help with any overlapping objects in the line of sight which helps a great deal in being accurate. There are two modes to choose from; Pin Seeker and Scan mode. Pin Seeker is the mode to use when trying to get an exact distance to the pin, as it will lock onto the target with ease. The Scan mode does as its name suggests, allowing you to scan and hit different targets to get an idea of how far other objects are from you. A 6x magnification makes finding your target easy, while the rainproof construction keeps your mind at ease if caught in the rain. Also included are a 1-year warranty and 30-day money back guarantee.

For my testing, I put the VPRO 500 up against the grandaddy of rangefinders, the Bushnell Tour X. To keep things even, I changed the faceplate on mine to be in non-slope mode. This head to head matchup in terms of accuracy was a tie. Each time I used the two, they were within half a yard of each other when locking on the pin. The challenge for me initially was locking onto the pin with the VPRO, but I quickly got the hang of how it worked. I’ve only ever used Bushnell before, so I’m used to the Jolt technology where it pulses when locked on. This does make it a bit easier to use, but when we’re talking about a $149.99 product vs the $250-$500 we see out of other brands, TecTecTec is easily one of the best values you can find.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive rangefinder that can do the work of the more expensive ones, I urge you to give these guys a try. I’m extremely confident that you won’t be disappointed and so are they with their 30-day guarantee. Knowing your yardages leads to better shots and lower scores. Try this one or one of their other models and let us know what you think!
